Claire Marie Blevins
Claire was born on July 24, 1930 in North Bay, Ont., to Georges and Aurore (Lamarre) Rivet. She graduated from North Bay Nursing School in 1952. Claire wanted to work and travel while she was young which led her to nursing positions in Bermuda (where she met her future husband, Duane), Detroit, Mich., and New York City, N.Y. She also worked in Montreal, Quebec, with her brother, Dr. Marc Rivet. She married Duane Blevins, of Sherwood, on May 5, 1958, and had four children. They lived in Sherwood before moving to Rolla, in 1959. Claire spent most of her career at Rolla Community Hospital (now Mary of the Presentation Hospital) and Quentin Burdick Memorial Healthcare Center in Belcourt. She retired in July 1990. After retirement, Claire and Duane traveled, spending 12 winters in Casa Grande, Ariz. and moved to Cavalier in 2006. Family: Claire is survived by her husband, Duane; son, Michael (Carol) Blevins, Bathgate; daughters, Louise (Steven) Smith, Savage, Minn., Annette (Fred) Wilkie, Puyallup, Wash., and Alice (Michael) Jordi, Bridgeport, Ala.; 10 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; sisters, Marie Rivet, Odette Rivet, Madeline (Al) Picard, all of North Bay, Ont., and Clemence Regimbal of Ottawa, Ont. Claire was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Dorothy; and brothers, Andre and Marc Rivet.
