David Fjeldahl
March 25, 1946 – October 28, 2010 

David Robert Fjeldahl, 64, Lisbon, formerly of the Berthold and Souris areas, died Thursday, October 28, 2010, in Lisbon.

He was born on March 25, 1946, in Minot, to Peter and Joyce (Haugen) Fjeldahl.  He was raised on the family farm southeast of Berthold where he attended school and earned his high school degree.

David had a knack for mechanics and in 1966, attended VW training in Chicago, IL, graduating in the top 10% of his class.  David served in the US Army from 1968 until 1972.  He did tours in Viet Nam and Germany.

David was married to Diane Hinson on May 11, 1971, in Corpus Christi, TX.  Their two children, Heather Diane and John David were born there.  David and Diane were later divorced but remained friends thru the years.

David worked for several dealerships and garages throughout the years.  In addition, he always did mechanic work on the side and also built dune buggies and car/motorcyles.  In his later years, after returning to North Dakota, he worked for his uncle, Rueben Gravseth, on his farm near Souris.  He then worked for the Cat Company in Fargo until he moved to the Old Soldiers Home in Lisbon.  While there he transported patients to various VA hospitals, worked in the kitchen, managed the Candy Shack in the evenings and did mechanic work for a local garage as well as rebuilding cars on the side.  He was never happier than when he had a vehicle project going.

Family:  daughter, Heather (Richard) Guerrero, and grandchildren, Amelia and Jacob Guerrero, all of Corpus Christi, TX; son, John Fjeldahl, Austin, TX; the mother of his children, Diane Fjeldahl, Corpus Christi, TX; brothers, Peter (Mary) Fjeldahl, Berthold, ND, Roger Fjeldahl, Fargo, ND; sister, Catherine (David) Howery, Antler, ND, one nephew and five nieces.

David was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Hannah Guerrero.

Memorial Service:  Saturday, December 4, 2010, 11:00 a.m., at New Life Lutheran Church, Minot

Burial:  Rolling Green Cemetery, rural Des Lacs
