Delbert Wright

Delbert WrightANTLER – Delbert Wright, 88, Antler, died Friday, June 17, 2011, at the Good Samaritan Society, Mohall.  The staff at both The Wellington and the Good Samaritan Society have given Delbert excellent care.

He was born October 17, 1922, on the family homestead near Antler, the youngest of six children born to George and Mary (Taylor) Wright.  He attended a country school and graduated from Antler High School in 1941.  After graduation, Delbert and good friend, Harry Engman, took a bicycle adventure to northern Canada.

Delbert attended the Wahpeton School of Science, graduating with honors in electronics.  He worked for Souris River Telephone for a number of years, while also farming and maintaining the family homestead.  In his spare time, he enjoyed refinishing old furniture and building grandfather clocks.

He was married to Clara Hanson, a local teacher, in 1960 until her passing in 1988.  Besides keeping up the homestead farm, Delbert built a new home on the farm.

Delbert married Billie (Hanson) Jenner, followed by a memorable honeymoon trip to Hawaii.  They both enjoyed traveling but were most happy on the family farm.  Delbert enjoyed reading the Bible and listening to his favorite music.

Delbert was a member of the Antler Community Church and enjoyed singing in the choir.  He enjoyed being an active member of the Masonic Lodge in Sherwood.

Family:  wife, Billie; step-son, Craig (Kathy) Jenner, Benson, MN; step-grandchildren, Nicole (Jesse) Frank, Morris, MN; Sarah (Lyle) Antolick, Benson, MN; Kristi (Nick) Bursaw, Phoeniz, AZ; and Kyle (fiancé, Jessica LeBlanc) Jenner, St. Cloud, MN; step-great-grandchildren, Avery and Vylet Frank, and Tayte and Coyer Antolick; and two nieces and six nephews.

Delbert was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, brothers, Charles and Harold; and sisters, Ellen (Rothlisberger) Johnson, Christine Witteman and Margaret (Behan) Bintz.

Funeral:  Tuesday, June 21, 2011, 11:00 a.m., at the Antler Community Church

Burial:  Antler Cemetery

Memorials:  Memorials preferred to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Salvation Army or the Antler Community Church.­
