Dennis Thompson
March 5, 1935 – August 13, 2008

SHERWOOD – Dennis L. Thompson, 73, of Sherwood, died Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at a Minot hospital.

He was born March 5, 1935 near Carpio to Walter and Marjorie (Graff) Thompson.  He was raised on the family farm near Sherwood and attended Eden Valley School, graduating from Sherwood High School in 1953.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army in October of 1955 and served for two years.  He was honorably discharged in 1957.

Dennis married Grace Erickson, of Ruso, on April 26, 1958.  He was employed by Koch Industries as a truck driver for 32 years and also farmed in the Sherwood area.

Dennis was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Sherwood.

Family:  his loving wife of 50 years, Grace; daughters, Kari Thompson, El Paso, TX; Karla Herigstad, Minot; LeAnn Fisher, Mohall; and Lynne (Jerry) Hennessy, Des Lacs; grandchildren, Matthew Herigstad, Brianna Fisher, Lana Herigstad, Dylan, Clancy, Ethan and Reese Hennessy, brothers, Donald (Carol) Thompson, Carnduff, Sask.; Walter (Cynthia) Thompson, Minot; Darold (Margaret) Thompson, Sherwood; sister, Beverly (Mel) Knutson, Post Falls, ID; sister-in-law, Doris Erickson, Velva; brother-in-law, Dale V. Erickson, Ft. Collins, CO; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Marjorie Thompson, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leonard and Hilda Erickson.

Funeral:  Monday, August 18, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Sherwood

Burial:  Eden Valley Cemetery, rural Sherwood

Family Service:  Sunday at 7:00 p.m. at the church
