John Lampson

MOHALL
– John Clair Lampson, 88, of Mohall and formerly of the Grano area, died
Tuesday, June 10, 2008, at a Mohall nursing home.
He was born April 25, 1920 near Grano to Grove and Selma (Oberg) Lampson. He was raised on the farm and attended school in Grano, graduating from Lansford High School in 1938.
He worked for area farmers prior to attending North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton. He served as a Corporal the U.S. Marine Corps, serving from June of 1942 to October of 1945. Following his service to his country, he returned to Wahpeton and completed his degree as an aviation mechanic.
He moved to California and worked for various airplane maintenance companies. He married Florence Farrell June 25, 1956, in Rapid City, SD. He worked several winters in California and returned each summer to his farm in Clay Township of Renville County. Florence died August 24, 1995. John entered the Good Samaritan Society, Mohall, in 2002.
John loved hunting, fishing and Florence’s good cooking. He was a hard worker who loved farming, airplanes, old tractors and sharing stories from his years in the service.

Myers, FL; nephew, Wesley Lampson, Alsen, ND; great-nieces and great-nephews, Tyler Knutson, Devils Lake, ND; Sean Knutson, New Town, ND; Martha (Jeff) Miller, Guthrie, OK; and Mark (Susan) Johnson, Sugar Grove, IL.
John was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and infant brother, George.
Funeral: Monday, June 16, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at the Good Samaritan Society, Mohall
