Lonnie Shigley
He was born to Wayne and Mable (Weise) Shigley on Feb. 25, 1943. He was born and raised on the family farm in Maxbass. After graduating from high school, he held job various jobs. He served in the Navy from 1961-1965. Part of his tour took him to Vietnam. After his honorable discharge, he spent a large part of his life in Oakhurst, Calif., owning and operating AmTech, his water well drilling company. On June 29, 1991, he married the true love of his life, Marcy. They spent a few years in California and then retired to North Dakota. His retirement years were spent ice fishing, hunting and working on his inventions. One of the last projects he worked on was a form to make his own toboggan and snowshoes. He was able to complete the forms but unable to complete the final project. Lonnie handled life’s difficulties with grace and humor; he always had a funny story or joke to tell. A private prayer service was held in the home the evening of his passing. At the request of Lonnie, a graveside service in Maxbass will be held in June, when the grass is green. A luncheon and celebration of his life will follow. Family: Lonnie is survived by his loving wife, Marcy (Palmer) Shigley, Minot; children, Chris (Cherie) Shigley, Shanghai, China; Lisa (Bill) Skov, Billings, Mont.; Erin Kent, Clovis, Calif.; Randy Brend, Newburg, Renae (Royal) Byre, Burlington, nine grandchildren; sisters, Tina Rolie, Minneapolis; and Bonnie (Arnie) Kruse, Maxbass; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
