Margaret Keup

MOHALL
- Margaret Dorothea (Moser) Keup, 92, of Topeka, Kan., and formerly of
Mohall, passed away March 11, 2008 at a Topeka hospital of complications
following surgery.
She was born September 9, 1915 in Harvey to Karl and Anna (Mees) Moser. She graduated from Harvey High School and attended North Dakota State University and Oregon State University, studying microbiology. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.
On June 14, 1937, in Corvallis, Ore., Margaret married William H. Keup. They lived in Molalla, Ore., where he taught vocational agriculture. In 1940, they moved to Mohall and established a farming operation, raising grain and turkeys. They were joined by Ross and Norma Cook and the operation became Cook & Keup, continuing in both grain farming and turkey production.
Her husband, Bill, died in 1991. In 1995, Margaret moved from the Mohall farm to Topeka to live with her daughter, Mary Kay, and family.
Margaret was a member of the Mohall United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women, was a 4-H leader, and was a member of the Mohall Study Club. She was an accomplished seamstress, a talented cook, and knit many sweaters, hats and scarves for family members. She was both an artist herself and an art collector and also enjoyed traveling. Crossword puzzles were an every-day challenge and she completed the New York Times puzzles well into her 80s.
Family: son, David (Linda) Keup, Mohall; daughters, Barbara (Virgil) Wolff, Mohall; and Mary Kay (Darvin) Hirsch, Topeka, Kan.; seven grandchildren, David Hirsch, James Wolff, Amy (Hirsch) Hendrickson, Jennifer Wolff, Sarah (Keup) Lee, Benjamin Keup and Christine Keup; three great-grandchildren, Ryan Keup, Logan Keup and Colin Lee; and several nieces and nephews who remained involved in her life.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Keup; sisters, Ruth Moser and Elsa (Moser) Brenner; and a brother, Calvin Moser.
Funeral: Monday, March 17, 2008, at 2 p.m. at United Methodist Church, Mohall
Burial: Mohall Community Cemetery
Family Service: Today (Sunday) at 5 p.m. at the funeral home
