Steven Bench
February 18, 1985 – April 28, 2011

SHERWOOD – Steven Christopher Bench, 26, Westhope, died Thursday, April 28, 2011, as a result of injuries received in a one-car rollover near Sherwood.

He was born February 18, 1985 in Sacramento, CA, to Joel and Lora (Crago) Bench.  He was raised in Newcastle, CA, and graduated from De Loro High School there.

Steven held numerous jobs including swimming pool construction with his Uncle Billy, concrete construction with his dad and brother, Jim, and as a diver cleaning the inside of water towers.  He moved to North Dakota in December of 2010, was certified as a CNA and worked at the Good Samaritan Society, Mohall, with his step-mother, Debbie, and sister, Amy.

Steven will be remembered for his love of fishing and camping, and his big brown eyes.

Family:  father, Joel (Debbie) Bench, Sherwood; mother, Lora (Ed) Slade, Newcastle, CA; siblings, James (fiancé, Stacey Eide) Wedel, Mohall; Floyd, Galt, CA; Heather and Rachael, of CA; Amy (Dru) Jones, Sherwood; foster brothers, Mike (Nicole) Bell, Sherwood; Mauricio, of CA; grandparents, LeRoy Bench, Shingletown, CA; Ann Jehn, Citrus Heights, CA; Pam and Bob Crago, New Castle, CA; great-grandparents, Leona and Bob Heitman, Roseville, CA; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Steven was preceded in death by his great-grandfather, Ivan Bench; and numerous great aunts and great uncles.

Memorial Service:  Saturday, May 7, 2011, 6:00 p.m., at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Sherwood.
