Ura Schroeder
She was born February 16, 1914, to Frank and Alice (Carter) Smith, on the family homestead in Clay Township, Renville County, North Dakota. She was raised in Mohall and graduated from Mohall High School. She attended Northwest Nazarene College in Nampa, Idaho. She returned to Mohall and worked at her uncle’s general store. Ura married Bernard Schroeder February 16, 1941, at the Mohall Nazarene Church. In 1943, they purchased a farm in Cut Bank Township, Bottineau County. For many years, Ura worked side by side with her husband in the operation of the farm. They planted crops and raised cattle and chickens. In addition to helping on the farm, Ura worked as a cook at the Mohall School in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Bernard died June 20, 1977. Ura continued living on the farm until entering the Good Samaritan Society, Mohall, in August of 2001. Ura was a member of the New Horizons Church of the Nazarene, Mohall, and a charter member of the Mohall Nazarene Church. She was a talented cook, seamstress and enjoyed gardening. Family: son, Paul (Orlene) Schroeder, Mohall; daughter, Bernadette (Ron) Carlson, Mesa, AZ; grandchildren, Julie Schroeder, Allen (Lindsay) Schroeder and Tracie Schroeder, and David Carlson; and many nieces and nephews. Ura was preceded in death by her parents, husband; and brother, John Smith. Funeral: Saturday, October 30, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at the New Horizons Church of the Nazarene, Mohall Burial: Mohall Community Cemetery Visitation: Today (Friday) 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Brose Funeral Home, Mohall.
