CARPIO – Alan Gail Erickson, 86, Minot, formerly of Carpio, died Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at a Minot nursing home.
He was born April 8, 1938, in Minot, to Clifford and Irma (Johnson) Erickson.  He was raised in the Carpio area and graduated from Carpio High School in 1956.  Alan was once married to Janis Hallingstad, whom he married in 1960.  To this union, four children were born, Todd, Tracy, Trent and McKay.  They divorced in 1981.
Alan was the owner of Valley View Farms located in White Ash Township, Renville County.  He farmed, ranched and raised registered Angus cattle.
Alan married Judy Borman in 1988.  He retired from farming and moved to Minot.
Alan was a member of Carpio Lutheran Church, North Dakota Stockmen's Association, American Angus Association, a 4H leader, was a member of the North Dakota House of Representatives in 1991 and 1992, served on the Renville County Commission for many years.  Alan made many friends in the cattle business.  He greatly enjoyed visits with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Family: wife, Judy Erickson, Minot; sons, Todd (Tammy) Erickson, Carpio, Trent (Susan) Erickson, Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Candace (Aaron) Leier, Carpio, Alyssa (Jarrit) Marum, Berthold, Bret (Jacey) Erickson, Carpio, Casey (Michele) Erickson, Minot, Tracy (Joy) Erickson, Minneapolis, MN, James (Emily) Salinas, Huron, SD, Alexandra Erickson, Chicago, IL; great-grandchildren, Bentley and Addyson Leier, Cameron, Ryan and Hayden Erickson, Ayda, Quinn, Porter and Roman Erickson, August and Ella Salinas; Judy's children, Virgil and Stewart Borman, Wendy Burman; sisters, Deneen Leroy, Janice (Dennis Linnertz) Fiedler, Jackie (Ed) Rieger, Glenda (Raymond) Quick, Cindy (Darrell) Leines; aunts, Vivian Erickson and JoAnn Cote; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Alan was preceded in death by: his parents, Clifford and Irma Erickson; son, Tracy; daughter, McKay; brothers-in-law, Larry Fiedler and Carl Leroy; and nephew, Matthew Leroy.
Funeral: 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 13, 2024, at Carpio Lutheran Church, Carpio.
Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, rural Minot.
Sharing of Memories Service: 7:00 p.m., Sunday, May 12, 2024, at the church.
Visitation: 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, at the church in Carpio.  Friends may also sign the online guestbook at brosefuneralhome.com.
