Alice Olson was born November 22, 1926, one of eleven children born to Milton and Bernthine Rice, of Mohall. She graduated from Mohall High School in 1944 and subsequently attended Minot State Teacher's College. Alice took the Civil Service Examination and went on to work for the Department of the Navy in Washington, D.C. It was there that she met and married John "Jack" W. Cullen, a Navy man. Jack and Alice had four children.
Alice's faith played a major role in her life. During the years when she resided in Britton, SD, she was a member of hospice and the hospital guild, the American Legion Auxiliary and Veterans of Foreign Wars, taught Sunday school, was a Brownie, Girl Scout, and Cub Scout leader, helped deliver Meals on Wheels, and years later, volunteered at Holden Village Bible Camp in Washington. After retiring, she sang in the church choir, was an active participant in WELCA, and was Chairperson of the Winter Pot Luck and Senior Adult Ministries for 20 years at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Mesa, AZ.
Above all, Alice loved her four children, her nine grandchildren, her 17 great-grandchildren, and her many friends and extended family. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to someone in need and demonstrated her faith daily by her good works.
