Cindy L. Duben, 73, rural Lansford, died Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Mohall, with her family by her side.
Cindy was born February 28, 1949, in Munich, Germany to William B. and Georgia (Hanson) Smith.  She traveled to many countries with her military family and landed in Maxbass in 1965.
Cindy married Lee Glinz in 1968, and on February 24, 1970, they had a daughter, Laura.  Cindy and Laura would go to lunch and celebrate their birthdays; these were very special times for Cindy.  Lee and Cindy later divorced.
Cindy enrolled at Minot State College and received her elementary teaching degree.  She taught at Antler, Maxbass and Newburg schools.  Her favorite grades were first and second.  Cindy loved teaching and had many fond memories of co-workers and students.  One of Cindy's joys while teaching, and after she retired, was receiving invitations to graduations and weddings of her students; she made an effort to attend them all.  Her license plate is IM4KDS.
Cindy had many loves, one was music.  Her favorite band while growing up was the Beatles (She has a room with all kinds of Beatle memorabilia).  In 2016, she received an invitation from her sister-in-law, Debbie Smith, to go see Paul McCartney perform, a dream come true.  Another one of Cindy's loves was her flower gardens; she spent countless hours taking care of them, and she enjoyed mowing her yard on her JD mower.
In 1998, Cindy married Emery Duben and they made their home south of the Renville Corner where they raised elk.  Cindy helped wherever she could with the elk operation.  Cindy was a wonderful homemaker.  She loved to decorate for all the holidays, with Christmas and Halloween as her favorites.  Cindy was proud of her home.  She had an infectious smile that will be missed by all; Cindy will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Family: Cindy is survived by her husband of almost 25 years, Emery Duben, rural Lansford; daughter, Laura (Stacey) Burkle, Minot; sisters, Roberta Smith, Maxbass, and Barrie Smith, Colorado Springs, CO; brother, Carson (Debbie) Smith, Sioux Falls, SD; cousin, Craig (Kathy) Jenner, Benson, MN; brothers-in-law, Paul (Rhonda) Duben, Garrison, John (Stacey) Duben, Coleharbor, Anthony (Erin) Duben, Devils Lake; sisters-in-law, Julie (Joel) Bergstedt, Hazen, and Mary (Marcus) Wertz, Coleharbor; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
