Curtis Lee Thompson, 79, Carpio, died Friday, February 25, 2022, at his home.
He was born December 14, 1942, in Minot, to Russell and Lavonne (Yale) Thompson. He was raised in the Carpio area and graduated from Carpio High School. He served in the N.D. National Guard from 1960 to 1966. He was called to active duty on October 15, 1961during the Berlin crisis, and was transferred back to the Guard on August 9, 1962.
Curtis married Darlene Sandberg on March 8, 1963, in Sawyer. Curtis worked for the N.D. State Highway Department from 1961 to 1967. He worked for Northwest Telephone Installation Services as a central office equipment installer from 1967 to 1970. He worked construction with Thompson Brothers Construction from 1970 to 1978 and for Mattson Construction while building the MSU Dome in 1978. In 1978, he went to work for the 5
th
Civil Engineering Squadron as a carpenter/locksmith, retiring on January 3, 2003.
Curtis was a member of Carpio Lutheran Church.

wife, Darlene Thompson, Carpio; daughters, Lanette (Barry) Jager, Bowbells, Susette (Jay) Jager, Williston, Lorette Thompson, Carpio; stepdaughter, Shelly Springer, Federal Way, WA; grandchildren, Darrick Jager, Lance Jager, Renee Hudson, Taylor Jager, RiLee Thompson; step-granddaughter, Amber Springer; great-grandchildren, JayLynn Jager, Christian Curtis Jager, Elijah Jager, Kyson Jager and Collins Jager; siblings, Vernon (Bernadine) Thompson, Carpio and Darrell (Joni) Thompson, Sun City, AZ; and numerous nieces nephews and cousins.
Curtis was preceded in death by:
his parents, Russell and Lavonne Thompson; grandson, Richard Jager; and brother, Larry Thompson.
