MOHALL – David Arlo Armstrong, 84, Minot, formerly of Mohall, died Friday, May 30, 2025, at his residence.
He was born June 8, 1940, in Minot, to Arlo and Marie (Nelson) Armstrong. He grew up in Mohall and graduated from Mohall High School in 1959. He graduated from Minot State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. While at Minot State, he played football and baseball. He played on the 1962 baseball team that went to the to the national tournament; that team was inducted in the Minot State Athletics Hall of Fame. Following graduation, he began teaching science in Tioga. He also coached football, wrestling and track.
David was united in marriage to Barbara Hanson on December 23, 1967. In 1975, they moved to Mohall where Dave worked with his father at the Mohall Gambles Store.
He returned to teaching in Mohall in the fall of 1987. He taught science, served as the athletic director, coached football and track, and was also a bus driver for many sporting activities. During the summers, he coached Legion baseball and coordinated the Mohall Youth Baseball program. Dave also worked for the Mohall Park Board managing the swimming pool and mowing the park.
For many years, Dave, along with Randy Johnson, did custom painting at people's homes and also at the school. In retirement, he worked as a funeral assistant at Brose Funeral Home, Mohall.
Dave enjoyed hunting and attending the sporting activities of his grandchildren. He was an avid Minnesota Vikings and Los Angeles Dodgers fan. His wife, Barb, died February 20, 2012. He moved to Minot in 2022 and resided at Edgewood Vista.

children, Darren (Amy) Armstrong, Minot, Bryan (Nicole) Armstrong, Harvey, and Leah (Travis) Hedberg, Minot; grandchildren, Brody (fiancé, Katie Baier) Armstrong and Kelby Armstrong, Tyler Rygg, Isabella Armstrong, and Gannon, Ben and Brogan Hedberg; brothers-in-law, Bruce (Patty) Hanson, Casper, WY, and Brad Hanson, Aurora, CO; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
David was preceded in death by:
his parents, Arlo and Marie Armstrong; wife, Barbara Armstrong; sister and brother-in-law, Arlene and Barry Beckedahl.
Funeral:
11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Zion Lutheran Church, Mohall.
Burial:
Mohall Community Cemetery, Mohall.
Visitation:
4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at Brose Funeral Home, Mohall. Friends may also sign the online guestbook at brosefuneralhome.com.
