CARPIO - Eldrice Johnson, 99, Minot, formerly of Carpio, passed away on August 27, 2023, at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Mohall.
Eldrice was born on August 2, 1924, to Lennie and Eunice (Besteland) Nyre, of Carpio.  She grew up on the farm there, and graduated from Carpio High School in the class of '42.  After spending a few years working out west, she returned to her roots in Carpio and married Alvah "Skinny" Johnson on September 15, 1946. They resided in Carpio and raised their family of three boys.
Eldrice was a member of Carpio Lutheran Church, and was an anchor in the alto section of the church choir.  Music, and singing in harmony with family and friends, was her joy.  She loved all of her extended family, and received their love in return.  Her final years were lived in Minot, and with each passing year she expressed her surprise to see her next birthday.  She very recently celebrated her 99th birthday with her family at the Wellington Senior Assisted Living Center. Family:  Eldrice is survived by her sons, Rodney (Kathy) Johnson, Minot, and Dann (Cris) Johnson, Grand Forks; daughter-in-law, Valleri Johnson, Mohall; grandchildren, Kami (Kelly) Komm, O'Fallon, IL, Joel (Andrea) Johnson, Farmington, ME, Brett Johnson, St. Paul, MN, Bjorn (Meghan) Johnson, St. Paul, MN, Derek (Lisa) Johnson, Fargo, and Brenna (Michael) Payne, of Grand Forks; ten great-grandchildren, Ryan, Eli, Drake, Hollis, Laszlo, Olivia, Annika, Siri, Marin, and Finn; sister, Carol Tomlinson, Richland, WA; and many nieces and nephews.
Eldrice was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Alvah; son, Randall Johnson, and infant son, Joel Johnson; sisters, Agnes Haaland, Gladwyn Moore, Lois Toney, Eunice (Toodie) Hall; brother, Harvey Nyre.
