MOHALL – Ellen A. Witteman, 96, Mohall, died Saturday, May 20, 2023, at a Mohall nursing home.
She was born October 16, 1926, south of Mohall, to Clarence and Mabel (Ortberg) Kinzley.  She attended Clay Center School.
Ellen married William C. "Bill" Witteman on January 15, 1947, in Minot.  They lived and farmed in Cutbank Township, Bottineau County, east of Mohall for many years.  Ellen worked in the kitchen feeding a multitude of hired men.  She enjoyed spending summers at Lake Metigoshe.  She and Bill moved into Mohall in 1980.  Bill died May 26, 2009.
Ellen was a member of the Mohall United Methodist Church until it closed.  She loved being at home and was a lover of cats.  She enjoyed when her family would stop by and keep her up to date with the goings-on.
Family:  sons, William Michael (Susan) Witteman, Dan (Diane K.) Witteman, and Steven Witteman, all of Mohall; son-in-law, Michael Duppong, Glen Ullin; grandchildren, Jeff, Curtis (Janell), Mark (Carrie), and Eric (Kelsy) Duppong, Sean (Melissa) and Jason (Karnell) Johnson, Brady (Cara) Witteman, and Teresa (Michael) Witteman-Franca; great-grandchildren, Zachary, Ryan, Rachel, Sean, Ethan, Allysa, Elizabeth, Cassidy, Braxton, Karter and Emmitt Duppong, Stella and Isla Franca, Jordan, Erin, Keeley, Kallie and Carter Johnson, and Maci and Beau Witteman; three great-great-grandchildren; brother, Richard Kinzley, Mohall; and several nieces and nephews.
Ellen was preceded in death by:  her parents; husband; daughter, Mary Ellen Duppong; and sister, Helma Gibbons.
Funeral:  A private family service will take place on Thursday, May 25, 2023.
Burial:  Mohall Community Cemetery, Mohall.
Visitation:  11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Thursday, at Brose Funeral Home, Mohall.  Friends may also sign the online guestbook at brosefuneralhome.com.
