Florence Eunice (Ellingson) Peterson, 98, Minot, formerly of Mohall, went to be with her Lord on April 11, 2022.
She was born November 25, 1923, in her home in Mohall to Gilbert and Marie Anne (Thompson) Ellingson. She attended the Mohall public school system and graduated from Mohall High School in 1942. Florence was one of two girls and eight boys. She was the ninth child of ten born to Gilbert and Marie.
While in school, she took part in the Girls Glee Club, mixed choir and was a cheerleader for the Mohall Yellow Jackets. Florence followed all activities and attended many in Mohall all of her life. She recently represented her Ellingson family at the rededication of Ellingson Field which was named in memory of her brothers, Dale Herbert and Harold Douglas Ellingson, who gave the ultimate sacrifice in WW II. Ellingson Field was originally the baseball field complex, but now is Ellingson Field Bus Barn Complex.
After graduation, she went to work for seven years at Farmers Union Oil Company. She married Rodney F. Peterson December 28, 1947. To this union, two children were born, Ronald F. Peterson on May 22, 1949, and one daughter, Constance Marie, who was born and died on December 3, 1951.
Florence worked for Renville County with the county agent for seven years and then for the county auditor's office for 12 years until they moved to Minot in 1969. She then worked for Minot Concrete for three years. Florence gave her devotion and loyalty to First Western Bank & Trust in Minot for 16 years until she retired. Her husband died February 2, 2001, at 81-years-old. They were married for 53 years.
Florence was very active in many organizations in Mohall and Minot, including time spent with the Order of Eastern Star since 1946, and Zion Lutheran Church, Mohall.
