ANTLER - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Glenda Renee (Howery) Tofteland, 74, of Antler, who left this world peacefully on January 16, 2025, at her home.
She was born on January 27, 1950, in Westhope, to George and Laura (Ledoux) Howery. She grew up in Antler, where she attended school and built the foundations of a life centered around family, faith, and love.
On January 25, 1969, Glenda married the love of her life, Kenneth "Kenny" Tofteland, at the Antler Community Church. A small, heartfelt reception was held at the home of her parents, marking the beginning of a marriage filled with affection and playful pestering that showcased their deep bond. Their devotion to one another was evident in the care they took to ensure each other's happiness and well-being throughout their 56 years together.
Glenda found immense joy in being a mother to her two sons, Andrew "Andy" Tofteland and Michael Tofteland, along with his wife, Julie (Lenius) Tofteland, whom she raised with unwavering love and care. She cherished her role as a grandmother to her three grandchildren, Kelsey, Logan, and Hannah, always showing up with a proud and supportive heart for every event and milestone. Her family was her greatest treasure, and she poured her heart into nurturing and celebrating them.
Glenda was a talented and passionate baker, a skill that brought joy and comfort to many. Her buns, in particular, earned her the affectionate nickname "the Bun Lady," a title she wore with pride. She delighted in baking Christmas goodies to share with friends and family, spreading holiday cheer through her delicious creations. Her warmth and hospitality were evident in every treat she lovingly prepared.
In addition to her baking, Glenda had a remarkable talent for crocheting. From crafting tiny clothes for Barbie dolls to creating cozy afghans for her grandchildren, her intricate and beautiful creations were woven with love and care. For Glenda, crocheting was more than a hobby—it was an expression of her generosity and selflessness, as she gave freely without expecting anything in return.
Glenda and Kenny shared a love for gardening, planting a big garden every summer to enjoy and share its bounty. As her health declined, the garden grew smaller, but her passion for nurturing both plants and people never wavered. She was known for her kindness and compassion, often bringing meals to those who were sick or disabled, embodying the spirit of giving in all aspects of her life.
Above all, Glenda was a woman of faith. Her love for our Lord guided her through life, bringing her comfort and purpose. Her selfless and giving nature reflected her deep-rooted belief in kindness, compassion, and the teachings of her faith.
As we remember Glenda, we celebrate a life full of love, warmth, and devotion to her family, friends and faith. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
