MOHALL - Gloria Beverly Hanson, formerly Elven, 103, of Mohall, died Saturday, August 29, 2026, at a Minot nursing home. 
She was born on February 14, 1923, in Coteau, ND, to Ingel and Mildred (Hagen) Elven.  She was raised in Columbus, ND, where she completed her schooling.  On April 26, 1943, Gloria married Lloyd Hanson in Coeur d’Alene, ID, while Lloyd was training for the Navy.  She was always proud to say she had run away to become a war bride. 
During Lloyd’s Navy service, Gloria lived in North Carolina and Rhode Island before the couple returned to North Dakota.  Gloria and Lloyd made their home in Mohall where they raised their three daughters, Barbara, Patricia, and Mary.  Gloria’s favorite past time was playing gin rummy with her “besties.” 
She was employed at the Mohall City Drug for Jack and Roberta Southam, which she claimed was more fun than work.  Gloria was included in all trips or adventures with family over the years and she was always a source of entertainment.  
After the closing of the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Mohall, Gloria moved to Trinity Nursing Home in Minot. 
Family:  Gloria is survived by her daughters, Patricia Berntson, Grand Forks, and Mary (Dennis) Peterson, Mohall; her son-in-law, John Martin, Pinellas Park, FL; her grandchildren, Timothy Martin, Port Richey, FL, Melissa (Bob) Krigbaum, Grand Forks, Elizabeth (Ryan) Johnson, West Fargo, Matthew (Tonya Naumann) Johnson, Mohall, and Benjamin Peterson, Bismarck; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; nieces and nephews; a bonus great-granddaughter, Cheyenne; and her two children; and many friends who were like family. 
Gloria was preceded in death by:  Her parents; her husband, Lloyd; her brother, Oakley Elven; her daughter, Barbara; and her son-in-law, Wayne Berntson. 
She often said her greatest gifts were her girls, their husbands—whom she loved like sons—and all of her grandchildren.
