CARPIO - Joyce Peterson, 96, of Carpio, was called home to our Lord on May 20, 2022, surrounded by her children and loved ones.
Joyce was born May 8, 1926, in Carpio, in the home of her mother and father, Ted and Hope (Talcott) Vedvig.  She was the oldest of four children, with three younger brothers.  She attended Carpio School where she graduated as class Valedictorian in 1944.
She then attended six months of Business College and then took a job as a stenographer with Judge Lowe.  She then went to work for Northwest Clinic in filing and as a receptionist.  After marriage, she worked for the Green Thumb Nursery.  She later worked for the U.S. Post Office in Carpio for 18 years, retiring as the Post Master.
Joyce married Lloyd Peterson on May 18, 1947, after his completion of service in the U.S. Navy. Originally settling in Minot, they eventually settled in Carpio.  Together they built a home filled with love, music, and the Lord; raising six children and the second home to many.  Lloyd died March 6, 2017.
Her interests included piano playing and music, sewing, cooking, gardening, fishing, Bible Study, quilting, and above all her greatest love was her family.  Her proudest achievement in life was her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Joyce spent her last remaining years in the company of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  They kept her busy with ballgames, concerts, playing games, and a constant house full of visitors.  When asked what she believed is the most important thing in all the world, Joyce stated, "My spiritual life and my husband and family."  The family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers.
Family: Joyce is survived by her children, Steve (Colleen) Peterson, Carpio, Colleen (Doug) Zabka, Max, Greg (Joan) Peterson, Nampa, ID; Jodi (Murray) Bock, Berthold; Mark Peterson, Velva; and honorary son, Tim Knutson, Minot; 17 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; brother, Elwood (Phyllis) Vedvig, Twin Falls, ID.
Joyce was preceded in death by : her husband, Lloyd Peterson; daughter, Barb Thompson; son-in-law, Jim Thompson; her parents; and two brothers, Harvey and Marvin "D.D." Vedvig; and numerous loved ones and family.
Funeral: 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 26, 2022, at Carpio Lutheran Church, Carpio.
Burial: St. John Cemetery, Carpio.
Family Service: 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at the church.
