MOHALL - Kathleen Kopa, 80, of Mohall, quietly passed Saturday, July 31, 2021, surrounded by friends and family, at her home.
Kathleen was born September 6, 1940, to Frederick and Sarah (Scanlin) Smith, and raised in the Bronx, NY.  She excelled in sports in high school, once scoring 50 points in a high school basketball game.  She married Frank Kopa Sr. in 1964, and they settled in Larchmont, NY, where she worked for an auto dealership.  In 1972 they bought a small convenience store in New Rochelle, NY, from her parents and were self-employed there until 1988.
In 1988, Kathleen started working for the town of Mamaroneck, NY, social services department where she later became the head of housing and urban development, with hundreds of clients.  She also organized and ran the Meals on Wheels program in Westchester County, NY.
Kathleen and Frank retired in 2003 and moved to Mohall to be closer to family.  In retirement, she served on the Mohall housing committee board.
Kathleen enjoyed playing cards, Scrabble, watching sports, singing during family music night, cooking and baking for family and friends and spending time with family and friends.
Family: Kathleen is survived by her son, Frank (Airianne) Kopa Jr., Mohall; grandchildren, Juliette (Carson) Lawson, Mohall, Frank Kopa III, Minot, and Andrew Kopa, Hutchinson, KS; great-grandchildren, Tillie, Summer, Clayton, Tyler, Greg and Silas; sister, Claire Smith, Bronx, NY.
Kathleen was preceded in death by: her husband, Frank Kopa Sr., in 2006.
Funeral: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 7, 2021, at St. Jerome Catholic Church, Mohall.  A link to a video of the service will be placed after the funeral on her online obituary.
Burial: Haas Cemetery, rural Antler.
