MOHALL – Mervin LeRoy Knutson, 84, Mohall, formerly of Tolley, died Thursday, November 26, 2020, at a Mohall nursing home.
He was born September 14, 1936, in Kenmare, to John W. and Edna (Larson) Knutson.  He graduated from Sherwood High School in 1954.  He graduated from the North Dakota State School of Science and then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1957.  He served his country for five years.
Upon returning home, he enrolled in the Milwaukee School of Engineering, graduating with honors in 1964.  He worked as an engineer for Conoco-Phillips in Cutbank, MT, before returning to Grover Township, rural Tolley, to farm and ranch after the death of his uncle, Norman Knutson.
In 1980, Mervin married Agnes (Mayer) Ring.  Mervin and Agnes continued to farm and ranch until moving to Mohall in 2017.
Mervin was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church, Mohall, the American Legion in Tolley and Mohall and the Mohall Gun Club.  He was a very avid hunter and fisherman.  He enjoyed playing pool, bowling, enjoyed ice fishing, trap shooting and darts.
Family: wife, Agnes Knutson, Mohall; stepdaughters, Peggy (Judith) Ring, Minneapolis, MN, JoAnn Gehringer, Mohall, Bonny (Eddie) Mayer, Minot, Loretta (Steve) Scott, Mohall, Sonia Ring, Mohall, Tina (John) Moberg, Washburn, Vera (Alan) Jones, Tolley; grandchildren, Jodi, Jamie, Melini, Ashley, Eddie Mitchell, Shannon, Courtney, Terri, Jeremy, Codi, Cori, Wyatt and Andrew; 26 great-grandchildren; brother, Jerome Knutson, Temple, TX; nieces, Lori and Karen; nephews, Erik and Michael; sister-in-law, Beverly Knutson, Post Falls, ID; and numerous cousins.
Mervin was preceded in death by: his parents; John and Edna Knutson; brother, Melvin Knutson; and sister-in-law, Pat Knutson.
Funeral: 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 4, 2020, at St. Jerome Catholic Church, Mohall.  A link to a video of the service will be posted to his online obituary after the funeral.
Burial: Mohall Community Cemetery, Mohall.
