MOHALL - Mylo Gene Peterson, 74, Mohall, passed away on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at a Mesa, AZ, hospital, surrounded by his family, just as the sun was beginning to set over the scenic mountains.
Mylo was born on August 7, 1947, in Westhope, to Ivan and Amanda (Tengesdal) Peterson.  He grew up on the family farm near Maxbass, and attended Renville Township School through the eighth grade and graduated from Mohall High School in 1965.
Mylo attended NDSU, graduating with B.S. degrees in chemistry and math.  After college he served two years in the U.S Army at Ft. Lewis, WA, Ft. Sam Houston, TX, and Fitzsimmons Hospital in Denver as a surgical tech, something he was very proud of and enjoyed sharing stories.
Mylo met his wife, Dorothy, through a cousin, and they married on December 28, 1973.  They settled on the home farm near Maxbass before moving to Mohall in 1990.  Mylo farmed his entire life with his brother, Galen, and eventually his two sons.  In 1975, he expanded the farming operation into the Redvers, Saskatchewan, area.  His greatest enjoyment in life was planting in the spring and harvesting in the fall.  He was extremely passionate about his profession, always researching and incorporating innovative agronomic and farming methods.  He and Galen were some of the first in the area to try no-till farming, a concept many considered crazy, but it is now the norm for the area.  Mylo's favorite farming activity was swathing and he was very particular how it was done.  He passed his passion for agriculture on to his five children.
He treasured time with his family and enjoyed taking them on vacations to many national park areas.  He and Dorothy took their dream trip in 2010, driving to Alaska in their camper van, exploring the beautiful sights.  They spent winters at their home in Gold Canyon, AZ, where they enjoyed the scenery, sunshine, wildlife and time with family.  Mylo was a great conversationalist and was always eager to visit with friends and family on anything from farming to politics.  His family feels there wasn't a question that he couldn't answer.  He enjoyed watching NDSU Bison and Green Bay Packer football games.
Mylo was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather who took the time to explain or teach things to his children and grandchildren.  He always made sure he got Dorothy gifts for important holidays and gave much thought in choosing these, even if it meant taking one of his children shopping the day before Christmas to find the perfect gift.  Mylo will be remembered for his generosity, determination and intelligence.
Mylo was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and was a member of the George T. Taylor American Legion Post No. 52 in Mohall, for 50 years.
