With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we announce the passing of Nora Jean Schoenberg, 70, of Mohall, who left this world on Saturday, September 6, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.
Nora was born on April 17, 1955, to Clarence and Florence (Lajimodiere) Denault, in the warmth of their family home on the farm near Osnabrock. The 13th of 14 children, she grew up in a house full of love, laughter, and the kind of hard work that shaped her strong spirit. She attended Osford #3, a small country school, before continuing her education in Langdon.
Nora's life journey was woven with resilience, adventure, and deep devotion to family. In the 1960s, she moved to New York to live with her sister Odelle, and in 1970, her mother brought her to Texas to be close to her sister Ellen. Her life changed forever with the birth of her children — Macheal in 1971 and Melissa in 1979 — with her then-husband, Bobby Brooks. After their divorce, Nora found a new beginning in Minnesota in 1980, where she lived with her sister Rosie and later welcomed her son, Kenzie, in 1984.
In 1989, Nora married Stephen Achen and gave birth to her daughter Danyelle. Through Stephen, she embraced two sons, Richard and Stephen Achen. Together, they built a life in various communities including Milton, Buxton, and Langdon, until Stephen's passing in 2004.
In a beautiful twist of fate, Nora found love again. In the fall of 2005, during a work trip to Mohall, she met Brad Schoenberg by chance. What began as a brief encounter grew into a deep and lasting love. Nora and Brad were married in 2009, and through Brad, she embraced another daughter, Jennifer, into her heart and life.
Nora was the kind of person who found joy in the simple pleasures — family gatherings, a warm cup of coffee, and the wind in her hair during motorcycle rides with Brad. She especially cherished their trips to Mexico, where they fished and soaked up sunshine, ocean breezes, and each other's company.
Above all, Nora lived for her family. Her love was unconditional, steady, and deeply felt. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, strength, and unwavering devotion.
