SHERWOOD - Patricia Louise (Gates) Hefter, 85, formerly of Sherwood, passed away suddenly on Monday, October 26, 2020, at a Minot hospital.
Pat was born February 21, 1935, to John and Edna (Chase) Gates, on a farm near Loraine.  Pat married Ken Hefter on February 5, 1955.  They spent their married life farming and living in Sherwood.  Pat was the true definition of a farmer's wife.  She was at times a hired hand, cook, a parts runner, and always a partner to shoulder the responsibilities. They wintered in Lake Havasu City, AZ for many years.  Ken died June 30, 2020.
Family: children, JoAnn (Bill) Coutts, Glendale, AZ, Janet Sandeen, Stanley, and Jeff (Jennifer) Hefter, Sherwood; grandchildren, Jennifer Coutts (Brandon) Burris, Jessica Coutts (Pete) Haga, Adam (Emily) Coutts, Marcie Sandeen (Jered) Johnson, Alex (Katie) Sandeen, Brett (Kaylee) Hefter, Brady (Chelsie) Hefter; 15 great-grandchildren, and one more on the way; sister-in-law, Thelma Gates, Mohall; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pat was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Ken; sisters, Nina Harlow and Mary Ann Henricks; and brothers, Robert, Bill, Jackie, and Jerome Gates; and son-in-law, Paul Sandeen.
Funeral: 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 2, 2020, at St. James Catholic Church, Sherwood.  Please follow social distancing guidelines and mask wearing is encouraged.  A link to a video of the service will be posted to her online obituary.
Burial: Loraine Cemetery, Loraine.
