ANTLER - Rodney LeRoy Tennyson, 92, Minot, formerly of Antler, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at his home.
He was born on September 9, 1930, in Loraine, to Thorlief and Myrtle (Olson) Tennyson. He lived his first few years in Lorraine, and then the family moved to a farm near Antler where he grew up and graduated from Antler High School. Rodney worked for a time in the oil fields but farming was what he loved. Work was his only hobby and he was good at it.
In addition to farming the land, he seemed to enjoy all aspects of livestock throughout the years, including rabbits, sheep, pigs, turkeys, geese, and of course, the mainstays of chickens and cattle.
He married Joanne Margaret Scheid in 1951. Together they worked the farm and raised five daughters. They were married just short of 60 years when she passed away in 2011. Rodney was involved in various community organizations including the Antler School Board, the Elevator Board and Bethel Lutheran Church.
He and Joanne retired from farming in 1991 and moved to Minot. They spent several winters in Texas and made many friends there. They lost their Minot home to the flood in 2011 and moved to Edgewood Vista in Fargo. Joanne died later that summer.
Rodney made many friends at Edgewood including Elsie Johnson, whom he married in 2013. He and Elsie had six years together before she passed away in 2019. Rodney missed Minot very much and wanted to move home. He moved back in 2019 where he resided until his death.
