Ronald S. Aalund, 87, formerly of Mohall, died peacefully in his sleep with loved ones at his side, on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, in Oakmont, PA.
He was born May 4, 1937, in Kenmare, to Samuel and Esther (Olson) Aalund.  He was raised on a farm west of Mohall.  He attended school in Mohall and graduated from Mohall High School in 1955.  He was baptized and confirmed at Hamerly Lutheran Church.
Ron married Jean Himle on June 30, 1955.  They lived in Mohall for a short time then moved to Westhope where they raised their five children.  In 1976, they moved back to the family farm west of Mohall.  Ron farmed there until his retirement in 2018. They moved to Minot in November of 2019, and to Oakmont, PA, in May of 2020.  Jean passed away on December 8, 2020.  Ron and Jean's family wishes to extend a special thanks to Presbyterian Senior Care and Bridges Hospice of Pittsburgh for their compassionate care.
For 44 years, Ron dedicated himself to farming, yet during the quieter winter months, Ron stayed active driving truck and taking time to do some traveling in their motorhome. Ron especially enjoyed recounting his adventures driving truck in Point Barrow, Alaska, the northernmost point in the US. While his family and friends might have heard these stories a few times over, Ron's passion for sharing them never waned.
Family: Ron is survived by his five children, Jeff (Kathy) Aalund, Sherwood, Rhonda (Mike) McCann, Glenshaw, PA, Barbara Sagsveen, Minot, Scott Aalund, Los Angeles, CA, and Bryan (Kelly) Aalund, West Fargo; 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; sisters, Celine (Gerald) Brudvik and Beverly Anastasia; brother, David Aalund; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ron was preceded in death by: his parents; wife; sister, Sylpha; brother-in-law, Arthur Anastasia; sister-in-law, Linda Aalund; and son-in-law, Scott Sagsveen.
Memorial Service honoring the lives of Ron and Jean Aalund: 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church, Mohall.
Burial: Westhope Cemetery, Westhope.
