Roy William Charles Gillstrap, 94, Mohall, died Sunday, February 4, 2024, at a Minot hospital.
He was born January 8, 1930, north of Kenmare to Roy A. and Viola (Homan) Gillstrap.  The family moved to a farm near Mohall and later Lansford.  He attended school in Lansford.  He worked for a few years for the Bill Witteman farm prior to joining the service.
He entered the U.S. Army in October of 1950 and served at Fort Riley, KS, Ft. Benning, GA, and Fort Lewis, WA.  He was honorably discharged in November of 1951.
Roy married Wilma Bruder on December 29, 1954, at Zion Lutheran Church, Mohall.  They lived and farmed in Blaine Township, Bottineau County, north of Lansford for many years.  Roy also worked for Cook & Keup Turkey Farm for 50 years, from 1958 to 2008.
Roy and Wilma moved into Mohall in 2017.  Wilma died April 18, 2018.
Roy was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Mohall, the George T. Taylor American Legion Post #52, loved search-a-word puzzles, feeding and watching the birds outside his apartment.
Family:  children, Connie Petersen, Mohall, John (Nancy) Gillstrap, Minot, Bonnie Lehman, Lansford, Donnie (Lynn) Gillstrap, Deering, Tammie (Pierre) Krause, Sherwood; grandchildren, Bobby Sequoyah, Chrissie Anderson, Marie Braswell, Leah Maddox, Jessie Casey, Jason Casey, Jennifer Davis, Josh Gillstrap, Rochelle Gillstrap, Ashley Lesmann and Victoria Rush; numerous great-grandchildren; brother, Gene (Pat) Pfefferkorn, Mohall; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Roy was preceded in death by:  his parents, Roy and Viola Gillstrap; stepfather, Carl Pfefferkorn; wife, Wilma Gillstrap; son, Dannie Gillstrap; grandchildren, Alan Hall, Danielle Arriola-Gillstrap and Steven Lesmann; brother, Charles Gillstrap; and sons-in-law, Lyle Petersen and Dean Lehman.
Funeral:  1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church, Mohall.
Burial:  Lansford Cemetery, Lansford, in the spring.
Visitation:  4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, February 9, 2024, at Brose Funeral Home, Mohall.  Friends may also sign the online guestbook at brosefuneralhome.com.
