MOHALL - Ruth V. Solar, 84, Mohall, died Friday, October 23, 2020, at the Souris Valley Nursing Home in Velva.
Ruth was born May 2, 1936, in Velva, to William R. and Hazel (Reed) Coffin.  She attended grade school at Truax Traer Coal Mine and high school in Velva, graduating in 1954. She worked at Falk's Super Value while in high school and then went to work at Groshans' Jewelry Store until the time of her marriage to Lawrence Solar on January 26, 1958.
Ruth and Lawrence lived and farmed for many years in the Lansford area of Clay Township.  They raised four beautiful children.  Many great years were spent living near and farming alongside related couple, Lawrence's brother, Carl, who was married to Ruth's sister, Alice.
She joined the Zion Lutheran Church in Mohall in 1959. She was active in WELCA for many years as an officer, taught Sunday School for twenty years and was chairman of the Martha's Circle for many years.
Ruth cared for Lawrence for five years after his cancer diagnosis, until he passed in January of 2001.
After several years on the farm around wonderful family and neighbors; she moved to Mohall, enjoyed living in her apartment building and making new friends.  She spent a couple great years at the Mohall Good Samaritan Nursing Home with several friends. Most recently, she moved to Souris Valley Nursing Home in Velva, where she was able to spend time with her sister, Hazel. She always enjoyed bowling, bingo with friends and her activities related to the church.
Family: sons, Larry (Carlene) Solar, Minot, Rev. David (Rev. Brenda) Solar, Warroad, MN, Richard (Janet) Solar, Marion, IA, and daughter, Gail (Brian) Solar Camp, Wesley Chapel, FL; grandchildren, Brian Zahn, Ian (Megan) Solar, Kelly Solar, Nicole Solar, Dustin (Melissa) Solar, Nathan (Lucy) Solar, Scott (Jenny) Solar and Tyler Solar; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Sidney Coffin, Minot; sister, Hazel Rogers, Velva; numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family.
Ruth was preceded in death by: her parents, William R. and Hazel (Reed) Coffin; husband, Lawrence Solar; sisters, Alice  Solar and Lola Netzloff; brothers, John Coffin and Franklin Coffin; grandson, Cory Solar; several in-laws.
Funeral: 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 31, 2020, at Zion Lutheran Church, Mohall.  Due to the Coronavirus, a smaller service is planned with family and close friends.  Masks and social distancing are encouraged.
Burial: Mohall Community Cemetery, next to her loving husband.

Memorials: Memorials preferred to the Mohall Ambulance Service, Velva Ambulance Service and Zion Lutheran Church, Mohall.
