MOHALL – Trey Steven Holsten, 23, Donnybrook, passed away Saturday, February 26, 2022, near Carpio.
Trey blessed this world when he entered it on April 2, 1998, in Minot, to Jim and Rhonda (Yale) Holsten. He proudly called Mohall his home where he attended K-12, graduating from MLS High School in 2016. While growing up, Trey would be seen around town with his buddies riding their bikes, hanging out at the pool, and playing summer baseball. He looked forward to going to the farm every chance he could and spent most weekends at Lake Metigoshe. His love for the mountains began at a young age when the family would go skiing every year over Christmas vacation. This later evolved into a passion for snowmobiling and he made numerous trips to the mountains to ride with a group of buddies. Family friends got together and planned a few spring break cruise vacations over the years which made many lasting memories.
Trey's high school years were spent being active in FFA and spending his Friday nights under the lights. Football was his passion and where he earned All-Region Honorable Mention, All-Conference, and All State Awards, as well as an invite to the North Dakota Shrine Bowl. After high school he ventured to Bismarck State College for one year prior to deciding that the love of his life, farming, was calling him back home. He continued to expand his farming operation and worked in the oilfield on the side for Ham's Well Service, Key Energy, and ND&T.
Trey was always up for an adventure, spontaneous may describe him best. He especially enjoyed deer hunting, ice fishing, golfing, and pretty much anything that had to do with hanging out with friends and siblings! He shared his life experiences with his beloved nieces and tried to teach his nephews what he knew about farming. Trey proudly served as a volunteer firefighter for the Tolley Fire Department. His love for life was contagious, along with his one-of-a-kind laugh! He is known by everyone that met him for being kindhearted and caring, taking time to visit with virtually everyone he knew. Trey always had a story to share and could find anybody to talk to while out and about whether he knew them or not, but he was especially drawn towards the girls. He was an all-around kind of a guy. Trey was one of the good ones. WE WERE BLESSED WITH THE BEST!
