Jeff Brose
Owner - Licensed Funeral Director
Jeff Brose was born in Mankato, MN. He was raised in Hillsboro by his maternal grandparents and graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1984. After spending three years at Mayville State College, he graduated in 1988 from Dallas Institute of Funeral Service, in Dallas, TX. He worked at a Minot funeral home for 12+ years prior to purchasing the funeral home in Mohall. Jeff, a thirty-year licensee, holds license #1063, which was issued on October 20, 1989.
Jeff married Nicole Nygaard, a Des Lacs native, on July 19, 1996. They have three boys, Cole, Kellyn and Jorn. Kellyn died on September 4, 2002, of SIDS, at the age of three months and four days. Jeff's wife, Niki, an AIFD certified florist, owns Flower Central in Minot. Jeff's sideline job is doing her books. He is affectionately known as "The Bean Counter."
After many years of reading articles on Celebrants in funeral service trade journals, Jeff took the training and became a Certified Celebrant in 2007. He realized that not all families are religious or want a church funeral. A Funeral Celebrant serves by providing a funeral service, memorial service or tribute that is personalized and individualized to reflect the personality and life-style of the deceased after consultation with the family. Jeff was the first funeral director in North Dakota to take this training.
Jeff also serves on the North Dakota State Board of Funeral Service, the regulatory board. He is in his third, four-year term and currently serves as the President of the Board.
